Abstract		The author describes the morphology and functional anatomy of the mitral apparatus. The results of morphological and histological studies show that some parts of the mitral apparatus contribute actively to the closing mechanism of the mitral valve. The muscular fibers in the leaflets make possible their tight apposition. The mitral ring contracts during the closure of mitral valve; in this contraction deep bulbospiral muscles take the active role. The papillary muscles with a portion of the adjacent left ventricular wall form together with the strut- chorda and with the anterior mitral leaflet functional unit, dividing the inflow and outflow tracts of the left ventricle.
Summary		Avtor opisuje morfologijo in funkcijsko anatomijo mitralnega aparata. Rezultati raziskav o funkcionalni anatomiji mitralnega aparata dokazujejo, da njegovi posamezni deli aktivno sodelujejo pri zapiranju zaklopke. Mišične vitre loputk omogočajo njihovo tesno prileganje. Mitralni obroč se med zapiranjem skrči s pomočjo globokih bulbospiralnih mišic. Papilarni mišici, povezani s pripadajočo steno prekata, sestavljata funkcijsko enoto s hordama-opornikoma in sprednjo loputko, ki razmejuje vtočni in iztočni kanal levega prekata.
