Abstract		For planning, development and evaluation of activities on drugs domain the government needs general information about patterns and trends connected with drugs that can include also significant regional differences within the country. It is urgent to collect information from different sources and to use different methods and indicators. A central unit is necessary, responsible for collecting, settling, analysing and mediating information on drugs. The unit must prepare the guidelines and establish routine mechanisms for data collecting and sending. Such an unit needs not necessarily be big and expensive, but it should be formally acknowledged.
