Abstract | With the popularisation of sports after the Second World War, the sports medicine began to develop. Numerous outpatient sports doctor's offices (clinics) were organised all over Slovenia and in 1948 the first Institute of Sport Medicine was established and was functioning for 8 years. With a reorganisation of health care, Institute of Labour Medicine was established in 1971 and later extended its activities to the traffic and sports medicine. After 20 years of common path, development dictates a separation of these branches, which is above all reasonable at the republic level, for the needs of the top-level sport. | |
