Abstract		The article is based on the results of research project 'Life and Value Orientation of Youth in Slovenia' (Youth '93), which was carried out on a representative sample of schoolchildren population in the age between 15 and 18 (N = 2310 respondents). The research shows that young people in Slovenia is an uncertain, stared population, and is under the strain of real and imaginary problems. Social life of the young is becoming more and more closed. The time of dependence on parents is prolonging. Social activities are taking place mostly in the spheres of individual consumption and free time. Young people are becoming intolerant to anything different from what they are used to. Similar tendencies are traced in all countries in transition.
