Abstract		Article describes the epidemy of gastroenteritis among the adult population of workers in a sugar factory. 16 of 64 workers became ill with signs and symptoms of gastroenteritis. Laboratory findings confirmed the causative agent, Yersinia enterocolitica serotype 0:3. Transmission occured by contaminated food. Abdominal pain, fever, diarrhea and dehydration were the most often clinical signs in the patients. The onset of epidemy was on 10th of July so at this time we can present only our findings of the first phase of Yersiniosis and basic features of the epidemy. Because of possible secondary and terciary manifestations of the disease we made also serological tests on Yersinia enterocolitica and will follow up the patients also in the future.
