Abstract     With plasma and from plasma produced gamma globulin with high antibody titer is possible to protect a person against an infectious disease, with which he or she has not been infected yet, or to protect a child against the transmission of the disease. The first attempts of such a protection in the world go back to nearly 100 years from now and the Institute for transfusion in Ljubljana has been collecting plasma against measles and other infectious diseases already since 1950. At that time the plasma was not being concentrated and the results were questionable. Because of volume overburdening it was not possible to give sufficient quantities of such a plasma and the organization for acquiring donors at that time meant first of all the establishing of a satisfactory blood donor service. Standard gamma globulin is a mixture of all kinds of antibodies and is today used in i.v. form. Our presentation deals with specific gamma globulins. Each of them has a higher titer of antibodies and is also labelled according to them.
