Abstract		The metabolism of chesnut tannin from the drugs Vetan 55 and Tanin (products of "Tanin" Sevnica, Slovenia) was being studied. Different fractions of metabolites in ni vitro conditions were determined in tissue homogenates (liver and duodenum with pancreas) of Whistar rats with thin layer chromatography (TCL). The results indicate that the TLC method is suitable for detecting glucose in tissues homogenates after adding 1 precent water solution of VETAN 55 or TANIN. The detected glucose was the product of metabolism of VETAN 55 and TANIN. Vescalagin, castalagin, epicatehin were found in the homogenates as well, galic acid was not detected in homogenetes per se, but was detected in homogenates after adding the standard of 0.1 precent galic acid and in 0.5 % water solutions of VETAN 55 and TANIN.
