Abstract		The purpose of this was to examine changes in periodontal tissues during induction of ecperimental periodontitis. The disease was induced in 20 beagle dogs during a six months period. In order to enhance the information of plaque, elastic rubber ligature around the neck of experimental teeth (P2, P3, P4, M1) on both sides of the maxillar and mandibular jaw were used. As a control group of teeth the left and right quadrant of the upper and lower jaw withouth ligature were used. Recordings of plazue formation, gingival inflammation, bleeding on probing depth, and attachment loss were repeated at three months intervals. The animals were fed a soft, plaquepromoting diet during the experimental period.
