Abstract     Between 1993-1994 we performed 50 parasitological examinations of chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra L.), which were shot down mainly in the Kamnik and Julian Alps. By parasitological examination we identified 15 different species of gastro-intestinal helminths; 12 species of Trichostrongylidae, 1 species of the Strongylidae, Trichuridae and Anopolocephalidae family. The most numerous gastro-intestinal helminiths are: Haemonchus contoruts, Ostertagia circumcinta, Trichostrongylus axei and Ostertagia ostertagi. By parasitological examination of chamois lungs 6 species of pulmonary parasites are Muellerius capillaris and Cystocaulus ocreatus. We also hematologically examined 33 samples of blood from shot chamois. We compared the results of blood to the species of endoparasites as well as to the intensity of infestation of the individual animal, in order to estimate the changes in blood picture. Statistically we have confirmed the influence of species and number of gastrointestinal and pulmonary parasites on the blood picture. There is statistical significance regarding blood values and intensity of infestation in Haemonchus contortus.
