Abstract     The author tries to draw attention to the fact that proportional morphological factors can be isolated from proportional body measures by means of factor analysis. These morphological factors have been known among classical anthropologists for a long time but have been neglected in sport praxis. On a sample of 197ten-year-old girls, two generally known factors were originally isolated from sixteen absolute measures: the factor of volume measures (solt tissues) and the factor of skeleton measures (hard tissues). On the same sample it was possible to isolate four factors from seventeen body roportions (absolute measures calculated with regard to body height): the factor of proportional body volume, the factor of joint diameters, the factor of transversal bone composites, and the factor of proportional lenght of upper extremities. The original hypothesis that body proportions can be isolated as morphological dimensions by means of standard statistical methods, was thus confirmed.
