Abstract     On a sample of eight middle and long distance runners the differences in the response of the human organism to interval anaerobic and to uniterrupted long lasting aerobic running were established by means of some biochemical and biomechanical parameters. The differences in the lactate concentration in blood after both work loads were statistically significant (P 0.041). Electrical stimulation of vastus lateralis muscle with 20 and 100 Hz has hown that no statistically significant differences exist between the two runs. The reduction of muscular force at the stimulation with the frequency of 20 Hz after interval run amounts to 22.4% +- 22%, after uniterrupted running it is 19.2% +- 10.8%. At the excitation with the frequency of 10 Hz the reduction of muscular force amounts to 8.7% +- 18.7% and 4.5% respectively. The results show that there are no differences between the two runs regarding low and high frequency fatigue in spite of significant differences in biochemical parameters. Both work loads cause low frequency fatigue.
