Abstract     Pentoxifylline (PF) affects the motility of human sperm, which is perceptible by multiexposure photography (MEP). In normozoospermic samples (n=23), the tracks of sperm treated with PF (n=449) were shorter (12.8+-3.4) as compared to the control group (n=459) (13.6+-3.7) (p less th. 0.0005), probably owing to larger movement "microamplitudes" and the sperm changed their direction of movement several times (2.9+-1.8 vs. 2.3 +-1.7) (p less th. 0.0001), which are the characteristics of hyperactivity. PF did cause an increase in concentration of motile sperm in washed oligozoospermic samples (n=23) (4.9+-4.2 vs. 3.5+-3.9) ( less th. 0.001).
