Abstract     Reports on earthquakes in Slovenia are inadequate and unreliable. They were written by the chroniclers of the age. The Easter earthquake was not the only one that struck Ljublana. In the newspapers of that time we could read that the earthquake was "a pleasant storm, that has suddenly refreshed and cleaned the hot and stuffy air". After the earthquake Ljubljana of today raised from the ruins, old habits, bad hygiene inadequate infrastructure and poor medical care became the past. Railroad administration offered decent temporary homes to the thousands of citizens who were staying in coaches on both Ljubljana railway stations. They introduced a so called "earthquake trains", organized postal service and transportation of food. People from the railway medical service tried to assure a general well being, they took care of faeces removal and tried to prevent any outburst of contagious disease - the nightmare of that time.
