Abstract | First description of hemobilia was made by Glisson in 1654. Most frequently hemobilia is caused by injury to the liver and/or to biliary ducts. The clinical feature of hemobilia is characterized by upper gastrointestinal haemorrhage, right upper quadrant abdominal pain and jaundice. Hemobilia is best diagnosed with selective hepatic artery angiography. If the embolisation of the bleeding vessel fails to stop the bleeding operative measures are mandatory. | |
