Abstract     Epistaxis is a sign of various diseases. It has different pathology and course in pediatric, adult and aged patients. When simple measurements are unsuccessful, general practitioner discerns between anterior and posterior epistaxis and insert an anterior nasal pack. Bilateral anterior and especially posterior nasal packing is associated with depressed arterial oxygen saturation with its attendant morbidity or even mortality in debilitated patients. Electrocauterization is the treatment of choice in these patients, under endoscopic control when the patient bleeds posteriorly. Correction of deviated nasal septum is performed whenever necessary to visualize and treat the bleeding vessel.
