Abstract		Authors describe the construction and use of ACD device (active compression-decompression pump) for external heart massage in resuscitation. The device has been used on a trainer and in clinical resuscitation of the patients. They found out, that the professional rescuers must learn how to use the ACD pump, but the use needs a lot of practice and force. The use is easier for tall and strong rescuers, they have to exchange parts often and testing all the time the efficiency of their action on the scale on the handle. The pump is not convenient for children, for old people with rigid thorax, for the patients with heary chest and for the patients with big breasts. When the contact paste for difibrillation is used, the device glides on the chest. Then is the classical heart massage more convenient.
