Abstract		CareSys is a modern, integrated Patient care information system providing comprehensive and flexible support for scheduling, administration, clinical support, patient accounting and management information with generalised interfaces to laboratory and other departmental systems. CareSys is easily translated into other languages, has the ability to run four languages simultaneously, and provides sophisticated facilities for tailoring to national or unique requirements. Multiple hospitals of any size may be supported on one system with the option of sharing selected patient records. Major attributes of the CareSys patient care information system include the exclusive use of 4th generation development technology, advanced design concepts and complete integration. Also of importance is unparalleled flexibility in implementation with extensive facilities for user-definable tailoring of the hospital model that oversees operation of the system. Ease of use through on-line help, menu, function key or command driven functions, and automated personal workflows. The system is easily tailored, both in power and functionality, for any size of hospital and is ideally structured to support the needs of alternative health care facilities (e.g. Ambulatory and Community services) and regional health care delivery networks.
