Abstract     For nealry twenty years significant efforts have been done in researching of FES assisted gait of paralysed subjects. The Ljubljana's gait pattern is based on voluntary controll events triggered by patient. Gait cycle is divided into stance and swing phase by pushbuttons on crutches. In present rehabilitative systems the switches are connected to the stimulator by wires. These wires represent obstacles for walking subject. The need for reliable wireless data link is obvious. Three possible media were investigated: - infrared light - ultrasound - radiofrequency waves Infrared light and ultrasound were found unreliable because the "visibility" between transmitter and receiver has to be assured. The radiofrequency waves were chosen as transmission medium. Stimulator consists of single microcontroller with EPROM memory and timer and of high voltage autput stages. Impulses which drive the output stages are synthesiyed by microcontroller.
