Abstract     Kinesiology deals mainly with human motor functions. its fundamentals are biomechanics and neurophysiology. They give descriptions of different patterns of movement from mechanical and control poit of view. Several areas of human endeavour profit from achievements in kinesiology, among others especially rehabilitation of motor disabled persons. It is inevitable to measure several biomechanic and neurologic variables, and build appropriate analitical models to assess different motor functions objectively and quantitatively, ie. to give functional diagnosis. An important tool for achievement of these goals is an appropriate computer system with powerful and flexible programming system tailored to rather specific needs of kinesiology. Description is given how the programming system ASYST meets the needs of a kinesiological laboratory in gait measurement and analysis.
