Abstract     The electroretinogram demonstrates a flash-evoked potentials of the retina recorded by surface electrodes. Electroretinography is a noninvasive and objective, yet nonstandardised examination technique, which has been in clinical use for number of years. The aim of this study was to record electroretinographic responses according to ISCEV standars, and to test a new laboratory-produced non-corneal HK-loop electrode. Electroretinograms were recorded in 40 healthy volunteers and 11 patients with retinitis pigmentosa, using a non-corneal HK-loop electrode as the active electrode. The preparation of patients, as well as the parameters of the electroretinographic system were adjusted to comply with the ISCEV standards. Normative electroretinographic data obtained in a group of volunteers were compared with electroretinographic responses of the patients group. The method used in our study proved of great value in the electrophysiological assessment of the retional function. Both, the volunteers and the patients found the non-corneal HK - loop electrode quite comfortable. Also, it proved stable and sensitive enough to ensure accurate flash electroretinographic recording.
Summary     Elektroretinogram je zapis električnega potenciala mrežnice, ki ga izzovemo s svetlobnim bliskom in posnamemo s površinsko elektrodo. Elektroretinografija je neinvazivna in objektivna preiskava, ki je - nestandardizirana - v klinični uporabi že vrsto let. Namem naloge je bil napraviti elektroretinografske posnetke v skladu s standardi, ki jih je priporočila Mednarodna organizacija za klinično elektrofiziologijo vida (ISCEV). Ob tem smo preizkusili še novo nekornealno elektrodo HK. Preiskali smo 40 zdravih prostovoljcev in 11 bolnikov z diagnozo renitis pigmentosa. Kot aktivno elektrodo smo uporabili nekornealno elektrodo HK. Priprava bolnikov in tudi nastavitev parametrov elektroretinografskega sistema sta bili v skladu s standardi ISCEV-a. Normative za opazovane parametre elektroretinograma smo dobili iz meritev na skupini prostovoljcev. Elektroretinografske odzive bolnikov z diagnozo retinitis pigmentosa smo primerjali z odzivi zdravih preiskovancev. Preiskava se je izkazala kot uspešna za elektrofiziološko vrednotenje delovanja mrežnice. Prostovoljci in bolniki so nekornealno elektrodo HK dobro prenašali. Mislimo, da je elektroda dovolj stabilna in občutljiva za klinično uporabo v bliskovni elektroretinografiji.
