Abstract		Changes in the classification of delirium were introduced in the 10th revision of international classification of diseases. Delirium is an etiologically nonspecific organic cerebral syndrome. Elderly in-patients are especially prone to it. Its clinical features and the mechanisms of its development are described. The importance of early recognition of delirium and treatment of its underlying cause is stressed.
Summary		V 10. reviziji Mednarodne klasifikacije bolezni so nastale nekatere spremembe pri klasifikaciji delirija, ki je kot etiološko nespecifičen organski cerebralni sindrom sedaj širše opredeljen. Delirij se pogosto pojavlja pri hospitaliziranih, zlasti starejših bolnikih. Opisana je klinična slika in verjetni mehanizmi razvoja delirija, pri katerem je pomembno hitro prepoznavanje in obravnava osnovnega vzroka.
