Abstract		Abstract. Affer describing the main characteristics of the desease, the author presents several cases of discitis in order to illustrate the difficult diagnosis due to the misleading clinical picture. The desease occurs most frequently as a complication of major abdominal operations and surgery of a ruptured intervertebral disc. Operative treatment should be reserved only for patients with neurological signs complicating the usually benign natural course of the desease.
Summary		Izvleček. Avtor opisuje glavne značilnosti bolezni ter predstavi nekaj primerov, ki ilustrirajo dokaj težavno pot do diagnoze zaradi zavajajoče klinične slike. Bolezen se le redko pojavi kot samostojna bolezen, veliko pogosteje nastopi kot zaplet pri večjih operativnih posegih v trebušni votlini ali na hrbtenici. Zdravljenje je bilo v začetku večkrat operativno, danes pa le izjemoma, saj je naravni potek bolezni vedno ugoden.
