Abstract		We present a novel numerical procedure that enables to calculate the relative change in the position and orientation between the upper arm and the forearm caused by a motion in the elbow complex. We presume that an optical 3D measurement system is utilised whose markers are attached on the skin in two groups, each for one of the arm segments. The objective is to minimise the effect of the deformation of the skin and muscles during the motion in order to obtain more accurate measurement. The initial experiments that were made on a male subject showed promising results.
