Abstract		The main aim of pancreas transplantation is to restore normal glucose metabolism. Patients with typ I diabetes are the most appropriate candidates for pancreas transplantation. The best results are obtained with pancreas transplants performed simulataneously with kindey transplantation. Transplantation of pancreatic Langerhans' cells has not proved effective in the treatment of diabetes in man. Bladder drainage is the therapy of choice for managing exocrine secretions. Quadruple immunosuppressive therapy is recommended. Failure of pancreas transplant is generally due to rejection, surgical complications and infection. The influence of pancreas transplant on complications of diabetes still remains to be clarified.
Summary		Cilj presaditve trebušne slinavke je normalizirati metabolizem glukoze. Namenjena je bolnikom s sladkorno boleznijo tipa I. Izkazalo se je, da dosežemo najboljši rezultat z istočasno presaditvijo ledvice in trebušne slinavke. Presaditev Langerhansovih otočkov trebušne slinavke se pri človeku ni izkazala za uspešno metodo zdravljenja sladkorne bolezni. Najprimernejši način derivacije sokov trebušne slinavke je v sečni mehur. Immunosupresivno zdravljenje naj bo štiritirno. Med vzroki za neuspešnost presaditve trebušne slinavke so najpogostejši: zavrnitvene reakcije, kirurški zapleti in okužbeni zapleti. Vpliv presaditve trebušne slinavke na procese zapletov sladkorne bolezni še ni povsem razjasnjen.
