Abstract		Background. Transplantation of haematopoietic stem cells, collected from bone marrow or peripheral blood is successful and safe treatment modality for baematopoietic stem cell disorders. Author presents indications for haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and its state in European countries. He is presenting his own experiences with 39 HSCT from 1989 till 1995 and compares them with HSCT activities in Eastern European countries. Conclusions. Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation is effective and safe way of treatment that is successfully performed for seven years in Slovenia. However HCST activity in Slovenia is declining comparing with many Eastern European countries due to staff and space limitations.
Summary		Izhodišča. Presajanje krvotvornih matičnih celic, zbranih iz kostnega mozga ali periferne krvi, se je uveljavilo pri zdravljenju cele vrste bolezni krvotvornih organov in nekaterih drugih bolezni. V prispevku avtor prikazuje indikacije za zdravljenje s presaditvijo in stanje v evropskih državah. Prikazuje tudi lastne izkušnje in rezultate 39 presaditev kostnega mozga od leta 1989 do 1995. Stanje v Sloveniji primerja z razmerami v Evropi, še posebej v državah bivšega vzhodnega bloka. Zaključki. Presaditev krvotvornih matičnih celic je učinkovit način zdravljenja, ki ga uspešno izvajamo tudi v naši državi. Zaradi prostorskih in kadrovskih omejitev na tem področju zaostajamo tudi že za številnimi vzhodnoevropskimi državami.
