Abstract     The aim of the authors is to present early medical rehabilitation (within the first week) after an arthroscopic procedure as a specific approach to the early rehabilitation of the operated shoulder. In the introduction the anatomy and functional capacity of the shoulder joint are demonstrated. Indications for arthroscopy and arthroscopic procedure are stated. The rehabilitation program describes the physical rehabilitation techniques with special stress on kinesitherapy (passive exercise, exercising in suspesion, automatic splint). The results are shown in the form of measurements of shoulder mobility, the clinical state and subjective condition of the patient. In conclusion the authors stress the necessity of early, specific and dosage-planned medical rehabilitation introduced immediately after the arthroscopic procedure.
