Abstract     Cytokinins are plant hormones which are present in root exudates. They affect growth and membrane properties in some ectomycorrhizal fungi. When we cultivated mycelia of Laccaria laccata, Lactarius piperatus, Hebeloma crustaliniforme, and Pisolithus tinctorius in the presence of zeatin-9riboside (ZR), their growth was promoted. Increasted ZR content in the Norway spruce (Picea abies) roots also enhanced the mycorrhization rate in the first days following the inoculation with the same fungi.
