Abstract     Photosynthetic activity of spruce (Picea abies) seedlings, as affected by the inoculation with the ectomycorrhizal fungi Laccaria lacata, Pisolithus tinctorius, lactarius piperatus and Paxillus involutus, was studied in two different experiments, one under field conditions and other in a growth chamber. Stimulation of the photosynthesis was observed in some cases. In the field experiments, after one year of plant growth, the most effective mycorrhizal fungus to stimulate net photosynthesis was L. laccata. In laboratory conditions, and after four month growth, P. involutus induced the highest photosynthetic activity.
