Abstract		In hydrophobic drugs, the absorption rate limiting factor is often ascribed to their poor water solubility. It was our task to prepare an immediate release solid oral dosage form containing 200 mg of fenofibrate, a sparingly soluble hypolipidemic agent. To achieve this goal, increasing the surface area by micronization and improvement of wettatility by surfactants were chosen as most appropriate methods. Further optimization of fenofibrate formulation was searched for by testing different disintegrating agents and technological process parameters.
