Abstract     In hydrophobic drugs, the absorption rate limiting factor is often ascribed to their poor water solubility. It was our task to prepare an immediate release solid oral dosage form containing 200 mg of fenofibrate, a sparingly soluble hypolipidemic agent. To achieve this goal, increasing the surface area by micronization and improvement of wettatility by surfactants were chosen as most appropriate methods. Further optimization of fenofibrate formulation was searched for by testing different disintegrating agents and technological process parameters. Objective: To optimize visualization and to control fluid dynamics using the gravitational system for low viscosity fluid delivery during continuous floy hysteroscopy. Desing: Description of the Vario Flow automated gravitational system for uterine distention. Setting: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University Medical Centre Ljubljana, January 1994 - December 1995. Interventions: We report on 245 hysteroscopi operations, including 141 metroplasties, 14 endometrial oblations, 7 cases of lysis of synechiae, 39 myomectomies and 39 polypectomies. Main results: In our patients accurate visualisation and good control of fluid dynamics were always obtained during diagnostic and operative hysteroscopies. Apart from uterine perforation, there were no immediate or early operative and general complications. The data on the fluid deficit and changes in glucose and sodium concentrations occuring during operative hysteroscopies are presented. Counclusions: The automated gravitational system optimizes visualization and affords good control of the fluid dynamics during diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy. Five percent dextrose used during diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy provides excellent visualization with no untoward reactions.
