Abstract     Arthroscopic methods can be successfully used for the treatment of some types of injuries of the ankle joint and the resulting pathologic conditions, including osteochondral fractures, osteochondritis dissecans, osteoarthritis secondary to ankle joint injury, loose bodies, and anterior soft tissue impingement. In the last two years, operative arthroscopy of the ankle joint was performed in 23 patients. The following arthroscopic procedures were carried out: synovectomy, chondroplasty and removal of osteophytes, fragments and loose bodies. Good therapeutic results were obtained in 80 percent of our patients, while 15 percent had moderate complications.
