Abstract		First, the contribution deals with the significance and basic theoretic starting-point of the purpose of the insurance on a general level; then it tackles the special level of voluntary health insurance for covering copayments for health services up to the full price (coinsurance amounts) and of additional vountary health insurance. Later on the contribution elucidates and analyses the investment theory and compares it to the Slovenian regulations regarding investments; it defines the investments terms and investments principles, compares them to the investments extent in developed countries and analyses the approach and preparations of the Institute for Health Insurance of Slovenia in regard of the adjustment to the Law on Insurance Companies in all the segments of operation.
