Abstract     The effects of cetyl alcohol, polyvinylpyrrofidone K-30 and magnesium stearate amount on diclofenac sodium release from sustained release hydrophobic matrix tablets were evalnated using full 23 factorial design. Magnesium stearate has the most significant influence on drug release - it causes a decrease in dissolution rate, followed by polyvinylpyrrolidone K-30, which increases the dissolution rate. The effect of cetyl alcohol was the least significant. It causes a decrease in dissolution rate. The interactions between magnesium stearate and cetyl alcohol and between magnesium stearate and polyvinylpyrrolidone K-30 influencing dissolution rate were also found to be significant.
