Abstract		Loss of the natural teeth causes collapse of the cortical bone lamellae and resorption of the alveolar bone. This results in narrowing and lowering of the alveolar ridge, which significantly reduces the possibilities for denture retention in the edentulous patient. An implant-retained denture can elderly patients. Several implant-retention systems are available for hybrid prostheses. A technique using biocompatible minimagnets is presented. The main advantages of this method are a comparatively low cost, good tolerance by periodontal tissues and simple hygienic care.
