Abstract     Adenoma of the pancreatic duct papilla is a rare pathologic entity. In 1994, we operated on a 65 year old man in whom the diagnosis of adenoma was verified by ERCP and biopsy. Histopathologic diagnosis was: tubular adenoma grade III-IV. The authors prefer local excision of a dysplastic, precancerously changed adenoma. This procedure is radical and less traumatic than extensive duodenopancreatectomy. The importance of preoperative and intraoperative biopsy with histologic examination for the choice of adequate surgery is pointed out.
