Abstract     Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructions do not provide optimal distribution of tensile loads throughout the width of the graft, since only a few fibres are placed at or close to isometric points. Extension of tibial and femoral isometric points along the axes, penetrating perpendicularly the sagittal plane, result in isometric lines. Fixation of the graft along this line would thus provide equal tensile load to all the fibrs of the graft. In the article, the concept of lateral extension of the isometric points has been considered theoretically, and supported by plexiglas model of the knee and by cadaver study.
