Abstract		Original methodology for the study of the 3-dimensional biomechanics of the knee is presented in the paper. A simple support mechanism that allows six degress of freedom to the knee was designed for this purpose. The data for the study are gathered by the three-dimensional co-ordinate measuring machine, and analysed by PC. The method allows for a wide variety of possibilities for studying the geometry and mechanics of the knee in different planes or in three dimensions. A similar approach has not yet been published in the available literature.
