| Abstract | The penicillin-phenol red acidometric test was found to be highly efficient and suitable for the detection of beta-lactamase production in staphylococci. The author presents his modification of the procedure and discusses its advantages. He recommends that all staphylococcal strains be tested for beta-lactamase production on the day of isolation. | |
