Abstract     In the model of social health care, classical market can not perform those functions which are otherwise performed in a system where the supply and demand for health services and the consequential prices are freely formed, as is characteristic for United States of America, the model of which is shown in the continuation. Slovenian model is a modified market resp. a social market, where the insurances for coinsurance amounts reflect the relations in the frame of programmes from compulsory health insurance on the base of the agreement among partners in public health network. Additional payments to the full value of services nevertheless give to the system of health care an element of competitive position and marketableness. Exclusively commercial insurances resp. insurances outside of copayments are still in developmental phase. Their further development depends to a great extent on the rights and procedures of compulsory health insurance and of professional medical consideration and political consensus.
