Abstract     Clinical study of the effects of low-intensity constant direct current on healing of pressure ulcers in a uniform population of spinal cord injured patients is presented. Electrical stimulation was delivered using two different electrode configurations, which induced different electric field distributions in the stimulated tissue. From obtained clinical results, an attempt was made to derive a criterion for optimization of direct current stimulation for wound healing enhancement, based on comparison of ecternally induced electric fields with endogenous electrical conditions.
