Abstract     Two different methods were used in investigation of the effects of low level direct current electrotherapy on solid subcutaneously growing SA-1 tumours in K/J mice. A non-invasive method of near infrared spectroscopy enables monitoring of oxygenated and deoxygenated haemoglobin levels in tissues under investigation by measuring changes in absorption of light at distinct wavelengths in the near infrared region. Tissue staining with Patent Blue dye is a simple and effective method for estimation of the tissue blood perfusion. Combined results obtained with both methods indicate that blood flow and oxygenation of the tumors were reduced due to application of electrical treatment as a consequence of damaged tumour vasculature.
