Abstract		The nose, paranasal sinuses and epipharynx form a complex anatomical, functional and pathophysiological unit. In the period of child development this unit has special developmental morphological, physiological and pathophysiological characteristics. The anatomical and morphological characteristics of the nasal organ are presented. Although its function in childhood does not differ significantly from its function in adulthood, some important physiological features are stressed in different periods of growth. The basic pathophysiological mechanisms are shown which depend on dynamic morphological and physiological char-acteristics in childhood.
