Abstract		The present paper analyses the prescription of antibiotics and chemotherapeutics at the surgical department of a hospital over one-year period (1992) from the viewpoint of the diagnosis, type of indicated antibiotics, results of microbial sensitivity tests and age, sex and type of work of the patients. The seasonal influences were followed on prescription of the analyzed therapeutical group. The antibiotics had been applied in the treatment in 17.7% of the patients, mostly at men. Monotherapy had prevailed. The antibiotic drug most frequently used was ampicillin (19.7%) and penicillin (16.2%).
