Abstract     Of 2633 interventions in year 1995, the emergency doctors in Ljubljana had to deal with bradycard disturbances of the heart rhythm 9 times and with tachycard 65 times. In the presented case, the patient with hemodynamically important bradycardia was given 1 mg of adrenaline and 1 mg of atropine i.v., with minimal improvement only. The dosage of the drugs chosen was not optimal, due to lack of experience. We are acquainted with other poss ibilities of the drug therapy, such as orciprenaline and dopamine, and also with possibility of transcutaneous cardiac pacing, which is known to be safe and efficient. Most of our defibrillators incorporate a non-invasive pacing facility, but they are still not used for this purpose because of organising and technical problems.
