Abstract		The paper presents the synthesis of findings by a number of researchers on the development of child's attachment. These are limited to the issue of the mother's employment during the first year of her child's life and to the child's development of a sense of security in an attachment relationship. My conclusion has been, that the results of various researches have been frequently incompatible. Whether the mother's employment in the earliest period of a child's life has negative influence on the development of a child's attachment or not, depends on many factors. The paper deals in detail with the following: the mother's satisfaction with her social role, her anxiety caused by the separation from the child and the child's age at which the mother resumes work after her maternity leave.
