Abstract | Three major pillars of contemporary work of the self-concept may be identified. experimental psychology, psychoanalytic theory, and symbolic interactions writings. There were a lot of questions, with which researchers couldn't agree. Is it necessary to devide the passive, perceptual self from active, procesual ego? Is the self-concept a unitary ceoncept? How many selves have we? On the basis of many theoretical issues and a little less empirical findings, there were designed some models of the self-concepts. Recently, more and more researchers see the self as dynamic, active, forceful and capable of change. it interprets and organizes self-relevant actions and experiences, has motivational consequences and it mediates and regulates behavior. | |
