Abstract     The resuls of treatment of 329 couples in which the male factor had been confirmed as the cause of infertility were analyzed. From among these, 209 couples were treated by IVF and 120 by ICSI procedure. Couples in which IVF was not indicated due to severe forms of impaired spermiogenesis or those in which previous IVF procedures did not result in the fertilirzation of egg cells were chosen for the ICSI procedure. The fertilization rate in 209 couples treated by IVF procedure was 48.1%, while complete absence of fertilization was registered in 30.6% of cycles. The pregnancy rate per embryo transfer was 31.9%. The fertilization rate in 120 couples treated by ICSI procedure was 64.3%, while the absence of fertilization was registered in 8.3% of cycles. The pregnancy rate per embryo transfer attained with ICSI method was 43.9%.
