Abstract     Myeloproliferative diseases are a diseage group in which autonomous abnormal proliferation of myleoid mother cells occurs. The results is malignant proliferation of one or mor myeloid cell lines and an accumulation of functionally pathologic cells of one or more types in peripheral blood. The final picture is frequently acute leukemia or fibrosis. Until a decade ago the course of symptomatic as well as palliative treatment included chemotherapy. In this last decade two new methods of treatment have appeared, transplantation of bone marrow and biotherapy with interferon. The aim of our paper is to present the basic characteristics of individual diseases as well as the new method of treatment.
