Abstract		Cardiovascular reflex tests and spectral analysis of heart rate variability were performed on 117 patients referred with vertigo; 31 of them had associated disease in which a disordero the autonomic nervous, system could be expected, 86 had isolated vertigo. The results were compared with 91 healthy volunteers. Disorders of the autonomic nervous system were found mainly in vertigo patients with associated diseases, but in patients with isolated vertigo the hyperadrenergic response to the tests was observed. Spectral analysis of heart rate variability showed larger variability in patients with isolated vergtigo, which is also caused by hyperadrenergic response. The head-upright tilt-table test was performed in 52 vertigo patients; the test was positive only in 11,5 % of patients- all test positive patients had a prior episode of syncope. Our results showed that testing of autonomic nervous functions is useful in patients with associated diseases, which may cause disorders of the autonomic nervous system. However, in patients with isolated vertigo the tests are not useful.
Summary		Rezultate kardiovaskularnih testov in spektralne analize variabilnosti srčne frekvence 117 bolnikov, ki so bili napoteni na testiranje delovanja avtonomnega živčevja z napotno diagnozo vrtoglavice, smo primerjali z rezultati testiranja pri 91 zdravih prostovoljcih. V skupini 117 bolnikov je imelo 35 od njih tudi spremljajoče bolezni, ki lahko vplivajo na funkcijo avtonomnega živčevja, 86 jih je imelo izolirano vrtoglavico. Disfunkcijo avtonomnega živčevja smo ugotovili pri tistih bolnikih, ki so imeli tudi spremljajoče bolezni. Pri bolnikicih z izolirano vrtoglavico smo opazovali hiperadrenergičen odgovor. Spektralna analiza variabilnosti srčne frekvence je pokazal večjo variabilnost pri bolnikih z izolirano vrtoglavico, ka rje tudi posledica hiperadrenergičnega odgovora. Test z nagibno mizo smo opravili pri 52 bolnikih z vrtoglavico. Pozitiven odgovor smo izzvali le v 11,5 % - vsi ti bolniki so že prej vsaj enkrat imeli sinkopo. Naši rezultati kažejo, da je testiranje delovanja avtonomnega živčevja koristno pri tistih vrtoglavih bolnikih, ki imajo tudi spremljajočo bolezen, ki lahko povzroči disfunkcijo avtonomnega živčevja. Nasprotno pa testiranje funkcije avtonomnega živčevja pri bolnikih z izolirano vrtoglavico ni pripomoglo k razjasnitvi težav.
