Abstract     When assuming today cochlear implants as an effective measure, the outcomes still vary to a high degree. Outcomes are determined i.e. by lenght of deafness and the social environment of the child, and by this the early start of an intensiv eauditory-verbal training even before the implantation of the device. In the discussion about the proper time of the operation today, the third year of life is often mentioned, for postmeningitic deafened children even the age under two. But also for the congenitally deaf patients there are more and more arguments for the very early implantation of a cochlear implant device, and increassingly so as there is hope that possibly unidentified residual hearing is not in every case damaged by the insertion of the intracochlear electrod ecarrier.Such a widened indication, however, requires a very careful insertion technique and a close cooperation with the therapist.
Summary     Ko ocenujejo današnjo učinkovitost kohlearnega vsajanja, so ugotovitve še vedno zelo različne.
